Chiefs, Orange Partner for Syracuse University Athletics Night Saturday

The Syracuse Chiefs are excited to announce the return of Syracuse University Athletics Night, to be held on Saturday, August 27th at NBT Bank Stadium. S.U. Athletics Night, presented by Perry's Ice Cream, will take place when the Chiefs take on the Pawtucket Red Sox at 7:05.

The event marks the last stop of Syracuse Football's "No Huddle Tour" prior to the team's season opener on September 2nd. Both new Head Coach Dino Babers and new Athletic Director John Wildhack will be in attendance at the game to throw ceremonial first pitches and interact with fans.

The Chiefs will also be joined by Otto the Orange, the S.U. Spirit Squad and the University's Dance Team to help celebrate the occasion. They will be performing throughout the game and also interacting with fans at the park. The national anthem will also be performed by Syracuse University track & field student Chevis J. Armstead II.

"It's great for fans of all Syracuse sports to have the No Huddle tour here at NBT Bank Stadium", said Chiefs general manager Jason Smorol. "We're excited to help kick off the full fall athletic season for the University in a fun interactive way! Chiefs fans are S.U. fans and vice versa, so we are extremely happy to continue this partnership with our friends on the Hill."

The first 1,000 fans through the gates, which open at 6:00 p.m., will receive a combination Syracuse University and Syracuse Chiefs rally towel. Additionally, Perry's will introduce a new ice cream flavor at the game called "Cuse 44", a salty caramel ice cream with crushed cream-filled cookies and orange-colored pretzel balls. Perry's will give away 500 coupons for $1 off the 1.5-quart size, and the dish will be available throughout the evening at Scooch's Scoops Ice Cream Shop.

Fans can also enjoy a Fireworks Extravaganza following the game, also sponsored by Perry's. The fireworks show will conclude the final Super Saturday of the season. The Chiefs' last fireworks show of the year will follow the game on Monday, August 29th, after the Chiefs and Pawtucket Red Sox play at 7:05.
