THE GATEKEEPERS...Chiefs goaltenders Kevin Armstrong and Dustin Tokarski have mirrored the Chiefs success over the past two-and-a-half months and have each improved upon their numbers from the start of the season.
In three of his last four games, 18-year-old Kevin Armstrong has allwed one goal or less, including his first shutout of the season on January 5th, a 1-0 win over Everett. Armstrong is 12-4-0-1 in his last 17 games with a 2.36 GAA and .916 save percentage.
Tokarski, a 17-year-old from Watson, Saskatchewan, has posted the best GAA (2.96) for any rookie goaltender in the WHL.
BOWMAN UPDATE...Drayson Bowman will appear at the CHL's Top Prospect Game on Wednesday night in Quebec City. The game is reserved for the top 40 draft eligible prospects playing in the Canadian Hockey League. Bowman missed his first ever game in a Spokane sweater on Monday while traveling for the game. The 17-year-old has 16 goals and 27 points this season.
AUSTRIAN STREAK...Michael Grabner has the WHL's longest point scoring streak at nine games. The 19-year-old has nine goals and 15 points through the span. Grabner is second on the team with 21 goals.
RUTHERFORD'S RUN...David Rutherford, first on the team with 23 goals, has four goals and nine points in his last eight games. Rutherford is also +3 in that span.
20-YEAR-OLD PLUSSES...Twenty-year-old defensemen Stephane Lenoski and Evan Haw were each major players in the three wins for Spokane last weekend. The Chiefs allowed six goals total, including two one goal efforts versus Chilliwack and Tri-City. Lenoski was +6 and Haw was +4 in the three games. In eight games with the Chiefs, Lenoski has three assists, all on the power play, and is +4. Mike Reddington, a 16-yearold rookie, was +4 versus Portland, a 7-4 win on Monday afternoon.
NUMBERS...Derek Ryan has two goals, four points and is +4 in his last two games. Ryan is second on the team with 38 points, including 17 goals...Mitch Wahl is +7 in his last 10 games... In his last five games, Ondrej Roman has seven assists. Roman has not gone back-to-back games without registering a point since October 28th...Cody Esposito tallied his first career goal on January 12th versus Chilliwack and added an assist, his second career multiple point game. Esposito was also +3 on the night.
