
Chiefs fall in shootout

Steve DaSilva scored the only shootout goal as the Kootenay Ice defeated the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 in a shootout Saturday night in the Chiefs regular season home finale.
With the win, Kootenay took the season series from the Chiefs 4-1.
Kootenay's Curtis Billsten gave the Ice a 1-0 lead with a rebound goal from the left circle 4:01 into the first period.
Neither team was able to score in the second, as Spokane outshot the Ice 11-10 in the period. In his final regular season home game, Spokane's Derek Ryan tied the game at 1 with a 5 on 3 power play goal at 11:01 of the third period. Ryan followed his own shot to beat Taylor Dakers net front. Mitch Wahl and David Rutherford assisted on the goal. Neither team scored in the overtime session until Da Silva's shootout goal gave the Ice a 1-0 edge in the shootout.
Spokane will finish the season with a three game road trip which will begin Wednesday in Chilliwack at 7pm.
