Spokane Chiefs News Release

Four more road games remain in the Chiefs season long eight game stretch away from the Spokane Arena and they will play those in a five game span beginning on Saturday night in Tri-City.

"Our team has played very well on the road all year and I think we're looking forward to this stint," Chiefs Head Coach Hardy Sauter said.

The Chiefs and Americans will renew acquaintances for the seventh time this year on Saturday night at 7:00. The game can be heard live on 105.7 the Peak with Comcast HockeyTonight beginning at 6:30.

After the Chiefs beat Tri-City 2-1 at home on January 9th, the Chiefs faced a daunting eight straight games on the road. To this point, they have won twice, lost once in regulation and once in a shootout. When all is said and done, the eight games will have been broken up between three different trips. It will have been six days since they last took the ice in Cranbrook against Kootenay.

"This week has been very important for us. Guys that were hurt that are now healed, we've put in a little bit of work and mentally I think our guys are sick of practice and are now looking forward to a game."

The Chiefs have been skating at Eastern Washington's rink at the University's Rec Center because of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships have taken over the Spokane Arena.

"I think we've handled the figure skating as best as we can with the venues and being able to work around it."

After Saturday night, the Chiefs will travel to Everett to take on the Silvertips and then move into British Columbia for games on Tuesday and Wednesday against Kamloops and Chilliwack. The Kamloops game had been originally scheduled for Wednesday night but was rescheduled to Tuesday to help the city of Kamloops accommodate the 2010 Winter Olympic Torch Relay.

CHANGE IN UHER'S GAME SIMPLE

The change in Dominik Uher's game has been simple. So simple that it takes just one word to explain it, "Confidence," Chiefs Head Coach Hardy Sauter said with told-you-so shrug of the shoulders.

"Before Christmas, he was a new kid in a new country on a new team and was probably a little overwhelmed. Since he came back he has a new confidence and a sense of belonging. The numbers are a reflection of that."

Two goals and seven points in a five game scoring streak have paced the Chiefs since January 9th. In the 22 games prior, Uher had just one goal and four points. January 15th was his first career multi-point game with two assists in a win at Lethbridge. The following night he had a goal and assist at Kootenay.

"He deserves everything he's getting," Chiefs Assistant Coach Jon Klemm said.

"He's going to the net, finishing his checks and outplaying everyone he's playing against and he's having fun doing it. There's nothing fluky about what he's doing," Sauter finished.

Uher and the Chiefs travel this weekend to begin a four-game in five-night stretch beginning on Saturday night in Tri-City. The game can be heard live on 105.7 the Peak with Comcast HockeyTonight beginning at 6:30.
