
Chicago Storm Selects Four Players in MISL College Draft

Chicago, IL (Tuesday, February 22, 2005) â The Chicago Storm selected four players in the 2005 MISL College Draft held this afternoon via teleconference. The "Yellow and Black" acquired the rights to defender C.J. Klaas, forward Antou Jallow and midfielders Boyzzz Khumalo and Luke Kreamalmeyer.
The first round of the draft was designated a territorial round for teams to select player from their region. The Storm held the second selection in the round as the expansion California Cougars held the first. Chicago selected University of Washington defender C.J. Klaas with the second selection in the Territorial Round. The Rockford, IL native became the first player in Pac-10 history to be named to the All-Pac-10 Team four consecutive years and was a Hermann Trophy finalist after his senior season. Through his four years in college, Klaas was called to various United States youth national teams. He played in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship in the UAE with the Under-20 squad. Klaas also made appearances for the Under-15, 16 and 18 U.S. national teams. He was also named NSCAA First-Team All-American for two straight years.
In the first college draft round, the Storm selected University of Wisconsin â Milwaukee forward Antou Jallow. The 23-year-old native of Uppsala, Sweden finished his career with the Panthers as the all-time leading goal-scorer in school and Horizon League history with 60 goals in 75 games. Jallow surpassed the school goal-scoring record set by current Fire midfielder Tony Sanneh (1990-93) by 10 goals. He also finished his Panther career as the second leading point-scorer behind Sanneh.
The Storm selected Coastal Carolina midfielder Thabiso "Boyzzz" Khumaldo with the second selection of the second round. The 24-year-old native of Soweto, South Africa finished his senior season with eight goals and 16 assists. He ranked second in the nation in assist during the 2004 campaign. Khumalo also eanred eight goals and seven assist in 12 games for the Chicago Fire Reserves of the Premier Development League (PDL).
With their final selection of the draft, the Storm selected Bradley University midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer. The Edwardsville, IL native finished his career with the Braves as the fifth-leading scorer in school history with 72 points. The 5'8", 155-pound midfielder earned All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team honors and led the Braves with eight goals and nine assist to help the team reach the semifinals of the conference tournament in 2004. Kreamalmeyer also earned three goals and six assists in 15 games for the Chicago Fire Reserves of the PDL.
The Storm traded their fourth round selection to the St. Louis Steamers last month in exchange for midfielder/forward Nino DaSilva.
