Chicago Sky hires in-arena team

CHICAGO-The Chicago Sky, the newest team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), announced the in-arena talent for their inaugural season which includes Chicago sports media veteran, Ryan Baker, as the in-arena host and the former voice of the Chicago Bulls, Ray Clay, as the public address announcer. The Chicago Sky will hit the court May 9 for a pre-season game and May 23 for the home opener at UIC Pavilion.

Baker is the weekend sports anchor and "Sports Sunday" co-anchor for NBC5-TV. He is a Chicago native who grew up in the south suburbs and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1991. Baker has covered many of Chicago's sports teams and hosted several radio and television sports shows throughout his career.

Clay's voice became synonymous with basketball as the public address announcer for the six-time World Champion Chicago Bulls. Clay began his announcing career in 1980 as the voice of the University of Illinois at Chicago Flames men's basketball team. He is a native of Berwyn, Ill. and is currently director of campus recreation at UIC.

The team's regular season runs through Aug. 12 with 17 regular -season home games and two exhibition games, which will be held on May 9 and May 12. The Chicago Sky is the 14th team in the WNBA and is led by General Manager and Head Coach Dave Cowens, a member of the NBA Hall of Fame.
