TIME FOR THE FURY: Chicago's two-game homestand continues Sunday as the Rush hosts the Detroit Fury. Despite its current three-game losing streak, the Fury (2-4) enters the game with the league's second-ranked offense. QB Andy Kelly has completed 149 of 254 passes for 1,745 yards and 29 touchdowns in six games.
RUSH DEFENSE KEYS ROUT OF ORLANDO: Chicago's defense forced six turnovers and recorded a team-record seven sacks Sunday en route to a 58-15 win over Orlando. After scoring on its first possession of the game, the Rush held Orlando scoreless for nearly 50 minutes before allowing a fourth-quarter touchdown. It was the widest margin of victory in Rush team history.
VIVA LAS VEGAS: Next week the Rush heads to Las Vegas for a game against the Gladiators. The Rush has won both of its meetings against the Gladiators, winning 68-48 last season at the Thomas & Mack Center.
NO TV THIS WEEK: Due to NBC's coverage of The Players Championship this weekend, the network will not broadcast AFL games Sunday. It will mark the first time this season the Rush will not be televised. For the year, Chicago's six games have averaged a 2.4 rating in Chicago, a 75% jump over last season's average rating.
McMILLEN APPROACHING 1,000: Rush FB Bob McMillen, who currently is fourth in the AFL in rushing, needs just 18 more yards to become the fifth player in AFL history to rush for 1,000 career yards. Last week, McMillen carried five times for 12 yards and two TDs. He has 51 career rushing touchdowns, which ranks him 6th on the AFL's all-time list. Earlier this season, McMillen became the first player in AFL history to rush for 100 or more yards in six-consecutive seasons.

McMILLEN GETS DEFENSIVE HONOR: McMillen also is getting the job done on defense. Tuesday, McMillen was named the AFL's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his performance vs. Orlando. McMillen was one of several Rush players who excelled during a record-setting day for the Rush defense. In the game, McMillen recorded three tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovered.
PHIL-YEAH!: QB Raymond Philyaw has been the catalyst for Chicago's early-season success. Philyaw has completed 93 of 142 passes for 1,208 yards and 18 touchdowns. Philyaw also has rushed for 24 yards and eight touchdowns, equaling his career-best for rushing touchdowns in a season with 10 games to play.
PHILYAW vs. DETROIT: Philyaw has enjoyed great success against Detroit, going 4-1 and never throwing an interception in his five games against the Fury. Here are his combined stats from his games vs. Detroit:
Games Comp Att Pct. Yds. TD Int
5 123 189 65% 1,346 26 0
NO PICKS: The Rush is one of only two teams in the AFL that has not thrown an interception this season (Los Angeles). Philyaw has opened the season with 142 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, and dating back to last season, has thrown 168 consecutive passes without being picked off. Previous to this year, the Rush had never played more than three games in a row without throwing an interception.
M*A*S*H UNIT: Rush defensive specialist Malcom Moore and FB/LB Levelle Brown are the latest members of the Rush to go down with serious injuries this season. Moore suffered an open fracture of the left tibia and fibula while breaking up a pass intended for Orlando receiver Sean Riley. Moore underwent successful surgery to insert a stabilizing rod and will miss the remainder of the season. As for Brown, he left Sunday's game after suffering a sublexation of his right shoulder. He will be re-evaluated later this week.
Here is a rundown of Chicago's other injuries:
- 8 FB/LB Jamie McGourty missed the game with Orlando due to an ankle injury suffered in Chicago's loss in Philadelphia March 7.
- WR/DB Donnie Caldwell was placed on IR February 26 and is out for the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee vs. Colorado (2/22). At the time of his injury, Caldwell was the team's second-leading tackler, recording 11.5 tackles and an interception.
- WR/DB Josh Phillips suffered a shoulder injury February 14 at New York and was placed on IR February 19. He is out indefinitely.
- DS DaShane Dennis suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee February 14 at New York. He was placed on IR and is out until late-March.
- DS Greg Williams ruptured the flexor tendon in his left ring finger and underwent successful surgery February 10. He was placed on IR and will be out until at least mid-April.
- In addition, defensive specialist Kareem Larrimore missed one game with a sprained ankle and offensive specialist Jeremy McDaniel missed one game with a groin injury.
ROSTER MOVES: After placing Malcom Moore on Injured Reserve this week, the Rush added lineman Matthew Walls to its practice squad.
SACK ATTACK: The Rush defense recorded a team-record seven sacks last week against Orlando. John Moyer led the Rush attack with two sacks, followed by James Baron, Lindsay Fleshman (1st career), Bob McMillen, Frank Moore and John Thomas with one. For the season the Rush team ranks second in the AFL with 12 sacks. Baron, a six-time All-Arena performer ranks 5th on the AFL's career sack leaders list with 35.5 career sacks.
