
Chicago Red Stars Sign Meagan McClelland

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars have signed goalkeeper Meagan McClelland to a national team replacement contract.
McClelland, who is originally from Kearny, NJ, played for Rutgers University for five years (2018-2022). While at Rutgers McClelland played in 100 matches, started in 74 and recorded 42 shutouts. Some of the New Jersey native's honors and awards during her collegiate career include Scholar All-Region (2021), Academic All-Big Ten (2021), All-Big Ten Third Team (2021), All-Big Ten Second Team (2020), Big-Ten Freshman of the Year (2018), All Big-Ten Third Team (2018) and All Big-Ten Freshman Team (2018).
In Mclelland's graduate year at Rutgers, the goalkeeper was named team captain, recorded her 43-career shutout and set a new NCAA record for minutes played with 9,032:27. The keeper ended her collegiate career with 9,482:27 minutes played. Mclelland steps into the Red Stars roster while Alyssa Naeher trains with the United States Women's National Team.
