Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Red Stars midfielder, Bianca St-Georges, has been called up to join the Canadian Women's National Team (CANWNT) for their upcoming CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying matches in Kingston, Jamaica and Toronto, Canada.
This is the second international call-up for St-Georges this year and the first since February, when the midfielder was invited to Canada's camp prior to the 2023 SheBelieves Cup, but ultimately was not selected to be a part of the team's roster for the tournament. The midfielder has seven appearances with five starts for the full CANWNT and was part of the 2022 team that won silver in the Concacaf W Championship.
On the youth level, St-Georges represented Canada at two FIFA youth tournaments and won two Concacaf youth medals with the teams. With the Red Stars this season, St-Georges has played in 17 matches, with 16 starts, scored two goals with one assist, and leads the team in expected goals with a 3.71 as the winger continues to flex her offensive prowess. This past weekend, in Chicago's match against the Washington Spirit, St-Georges found herself on the receiving end of a cross by Casey Krueger into the 18-yard box that St-Georges got her head on, securing her second goal of the season.
Canada will play the Jamaican Women's National Team in Kingston, Jamaica Friday, September 22, and again Tuesday, September 26, in Toronto, Canada. Both teams earned the right to play in this final phase of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics in Paris due to their performance in the 2022 Concacaf W Championship, where Canada finished in second place and Jamaica bested Costa Rica 0-1 in the third-place match.
