Chicago Stars FC News Release

Chicago, Illinois - As the FIFA Women's World Cup plays out in Canada, the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) are excited to give their fans a chance to meet some of their 8 international Red Stars when they return home to Chicago later this summer. With 8 different Chicago Red Stars playing in this year's World Cup, the Red Stars are proud to have their players representing 3 different countries including the United States, Canada, and New Zealand.

"We pride ourselves on being the most accessible pro sports team in the Chicagoland area," said Alyse LaHue, Red Stars General Manager. "Every four years we have a unique opportunity in that new fans become exposed to our game through the attention the World Cup demands and this gives us a chance to connect the dots between our National Team representatives and their connection to the Chicago community."

Among the players that the winners have the opportunity to potentially meet are Shannon Boxx, Lori Chalupny, Julie Johnston and Christen Press, who represent Team USA. Other Red Stars participating in this year's World Cup are Karina LeBlanc, Adriana Leon, and Melissa Tancredi of the Canadian national team. The Red Stars international representatives are rounded out by Abby Erceg, who captains New Zealand's World Cup team.

This unique promotion, housed both at the team's Facebook Page and on the team's website will reward 5 different fans an experiential prize package for them and 5 of their friends. Each prize package will include 6 tickets to a Red Stars home game, food vouchers, and a meet-and-greet with some of the Red Stars' international players once they return to Chicago later this summer. The promotion is open for entry through Monday, July 6th.
