Chicago Mustangs Defeat Ambush in Overtime, 9-8

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - The Chicago Mustangs, proud members of the Major Arena Soccer League (www.MASLSoccer.com), defeat the St. Louis Ambush in overtime 9-8 in Missouri on January 29th. This is the third time the Chicago Mustangs beat the St. Louis Ambush this season.
The Chicago Mustangs start the first quarter with good possession and great saves by goalkeeper Jesus Flores. At 7:41, the Ambush manage to get one in the back of the net, 0-1. Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista gets a great right footed shot off but the Ambush goalkeeper comes up with a save. A couple of great defensive efforts by Luis "Peewee" Ortega and Jesus Flores close the quarter with the Mustangs down, 0-1.
The second quarter starts on a high note with a goal by Miguel Vaca at 1:15, assisted by Efrain "Wilo" Martinez, bringing the game to tie, 1-1. At 3:18, St. Louis' Odaine Sinclair gets his second goal of the night, 1-2. Great efforts from Miguel Vaca, Efrain "Wilo" Martinez and Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista result in multiple shots on goal. At 8:15, Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista, assisted by Efrain "Wilo" Martinez, puts one in the net, 2-2. At 12:23, St. Louis' Odaine Sinclair gets a hat trick, 2-3. Mustangs Carlos Pichardo shoots an absolute bomb but somehow the Ambush goalie manages to get behind the ball. The quarter ends with the Mustangs down 2-3.
The Chicago Mustangs return from halftime with renewed energy with Ricardo Carvalho scoring back to back goals putting the team in the lead for the first time of the game, 4-3. At 6:34, the Ambush put one in the net bringing the game to a tie again, 4-4. At 8:51, Miguel Vaca scores his second goal of the night, assisted by Luis Ortega, 5-4. The Mustangs don't have the lead long as the Ambush respond with a goal at 9:03, 5-5. At 14:01, the Ambush put one more in the net and the third quarter ends with the Mustangs down, 5-6.
St. Louis comes out strong for the fourth quarter with Lucas Almeida scoring his second and third goals of the game within the first couple of minutes, Mustangs down 5-8. At 6:25, the Mustangs respond with a goal by Efrain "Wilo" Martinez, 6-8. With 6:04 left in the game the Mustangs take a time out. At 9:54, Mustangs Ricardo Carvalho, assisted by Luis Ortega, gets a hat trick, 7-8. At 13:26, Miguel Vaca gets his hat trick and the quarter ends with the game tied again, 8-8.
Overtime only last 4:44 with the Chicago Mustangs Miguel Vaca scoring his fourth goal of the night and giving the Mustangs its third win against the St. Louis Ambush, 9-8.
