Chicago Stars FC News Release

CHICAGO - The Red Stars and Sky Blue FC will play each other in NWSL's only game this weekend. The match will kick off on Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m. CT at Toyota Park. The match will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and the go90 app.

For the just the second time this season, the Red Stars took a hiatus after their last match, catching a Bye Week last weekend. Before that, Chicago grabbed three important points against Seattle Reign FC on July 14. With much of the game being in a scoreless stalemate, Australian international Sam Kerr notched the late game-winning goal in the 87th minute of the match.

During Chicago's Bye Week, teams shifted to drop the Red Stars down to fifth place with 28 points.

Sky Blue recently played last weekend, falling to Portland Thorns FC, 2-1. Portland's Hayley Raso and Ana-Marie Crnogorcevic notched the Thorns' goals in the first seven minutes of the match. Sky Blue narrowed the scoreline halfway through the first half with a goal by Imani Dorsey. The loss continued New Jersey's winless season, while adding to a four-game losing streak.

This will be the last time these two teams meet. In the previous two battles, Sky Blue earned its first draw of the season back in April with a 1-1 tie against Chicago. Two weeks ago, the Red Stars traveled to New Jersey and came out on top of a 3-1 victory. Kerr notched her league-leading third career hat trick, while also notching her 50th goal to create an NWSL record. Sky Blue didn't go scoreless as Dorsey notched Sky Blue's goal in the 73rd minute.

The Red Stars will head into another off weekend as they prepare for the final regular season home match against North Carolina Courage on Friday, August 10. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT. Tickets are available here.

Series History:

April 21: 1-1 D @ Home (Huerta 1'/McCaskill 78')

July 14: 3-1 W @ New Jersey (Kerr 40', 46', 63'/Dorsey 73')
