
Chicago Fire Soccer In The Community Update

Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO, IL (October 13, 2009) - The Chicago Fire is participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area over the next week. Throughout the year, the Chicago Fire participates in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.
These events range from a Children's Memorial Hospital visit, the Chicago Fire Guest Bartending Event, a Book Reading of Where the Wild Things Are, the Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes event, and participation in local soccer matches.
Children's Memorial Hospital Visit
Who: Chicago Fire Midfielders, Logan Pause and John Thorrington
When: Tuesday, October 13; 3:00 - 4:00 PM
Where: Children's Memorial Hospital
What: Chicago Fire Midfielders, Logan Pause and John Thorrington, will be lending a hand at Children's Memorial Hospital on October 13th. Pause and Thorrington will be special guests on the popular program, Hospital BINGO, which is held every Tuesday in The Janice and Kimberly Brown Life Center. Hospital BINGO is also televised throughout the entire hospital on Skylight TV so all patients can participate.
Chicago Fire Guest Bartending, Round 3
Who: Chicago Fire Goalkeeping squad, Jon Busch, Andrew Dykstra, and Assistant Coach Daryl Shore
When: Wednesday, October 14; Guest Bartending (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM) and U.S. Soccer Watch Party (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
Where: Small Bar, 2049 W. Division
What: Join the Chicago Fire to raise funds for the Chicago Fire Foundation at Small Bar on October 14th. Jon Busch, Andrew Dykstra, and Assistant Coach Daryl Shore of the Fire's goalkeeping squad will be serving behind the bar before the U.S. Men's National Team faces Costa Rica in their final World Cup qualifying match. Book Reading: Where the Wild Things Are
Who: Chicago Fire Forward, Calen Carr
When: Thursday, October 15; 4:30 PM
Where: La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Avenue, La Grange
What: Chicago Fire Forward, Calen Carr, will be reading the popular children's book Where the Wild Things Are this Thursday at the La Grange Public Library. Plus, fans will be able to enter for a chance to win passes to experience Where the Wild Things Are at the new IMAX Theater at the AMC Quarry on Oct. 15th at 7:00 PM.
Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes [visit site
Who: Chicago Fire Mascot, Sparky
When: Saturday, October 17; Registration (8:30 AM), Opening Ceremonies (9:45 AM), Walk Begins (10:15 AM)
Where: Lakefront at Soldier Field (Great Lawn in front of Policeman's Memorial)
What: Join Sparky at the Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes event and help the American Diabetes Association bring awareness of their fight to stop diabetes. The event will take place this Saturday along the lakefront at Soldier Field.
Rockford Super Cup
Who: Chicago Fire Staff and Penalty Kick Inflatable
When: Saturday, October 17; 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Where: Indoor Sport Center, 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park
What: Join the Chicago Fire Staff, as they cheer on local soccer teams. Plus, test your soccer skills on the Chicago Fire's Penalty Kick inflatable.
