Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO FIRE TO FACE CHARLOTTE FC ON WEDNESDAY, COLUMBUS ON SATURDAY
Chicago Fire FC returns home for a two-game homestand, playing two games in four days at Soldier Field. The Fire takes on Charlotte FC on Wednesday, May 15 before hosting the defending MLS Cup Champion, Columbus Crew, on Saturday, May 18. Wednesday and Saturday mark Chicago's first time playing two games in the same week in 2024.
Wednesday's match will mark just the fifth all-time meeting between Chicago and Charlotte since the team's arrival to MLS in 2022. Last time the two sides met, Chicago fell short against Charlotte, 2-0, on Oct. 7, 2023, at Soldier Field. The Fire will be looking to secure its first win at home against Charlotte in the third all-time meeting between the two sides at Soldier Field.
As for Saturday's matchup, it's a renewed rivalry between the Fire and the Crew. Chicago holds a record of 27-26-23 against one of its oldest rivals, going 17-8-13 at home. Saturday marks the second and final regular season matchup between Chicago and Columbus, with the Crew previously securing a 2-1 win at home on March 9.
Kickoff for both matches is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Both contests will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and will also be transmitted locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

by the numbers
3 - Belgian forward Hugo Cuypers scored his third goal of the MLS regular season against St. Louis CITY SC. His first tally came in the 4-3 win against CF Montréal on March 16 at Soldier Field, and his second goal of the season came in the 1-1 tie against the New England Revolution on March 23 at Gillette Stadium.
95 - With his start against St. Louis CITY SC, defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda registered 95 career starts in a Fire uniform. Pineda is five away from becoming the first Homegrown Player to reach 100 starts for the Club.
99 - With a start in the match against St. Louis, midfielder Brian Gutiérrez is now just one appearance away from becoming the second Homegrown Player in Club history to reach 100 matches played for the Fire. Gutiérrez would join current teammate Mauricio Pineda as the only Fire players to reach the centennial mark since the introduction of the Homegrown Player rule in 2008. Additionally, if Gutiérrez appears in one more game before his birthday on June 17, he'll be just the ninth player in MLS history to reach 100 career games played before the age of 22.
