PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers fell to Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders FC 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park. Felipe Mora opened the scoring in the 15th minute before the Timbers conceded a goal in each half leading to the loss. Facing a quick turnaround, Portland will return to Providence Park to host the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday, May 15.

Felipe Mora scored the opening goal of the match 15 minutes in, tallying his team-leading fifth goal of the season. It marks Mora's third career goal against Seattle. Jonathan Rodríguez registered his second assist of the season today. Both of his assists this year have been to Mora. Dario Zuparic tallied his first assist of the season today, becoming the 11th player to tally an assist for Portland this year. With today's goal, the Timbers have scored in their last 15 matches at Providence Park.
Portland Unveils Tillamook as Jersey Sponsor
The Timbers today unveiled Tillamook® as their new front of jersey sponsor in a multiyear deal. The Oregon-based, farmer-owned dairy cooperative made its debut on the Timbers kit in today's match against Seattle Sounders FC. A long-time partner of the club, the Timbers have represented Tillamook around the stadium since 2014 through activations like the "Cheddar Baby Loaf" that fans know and love, and availability at concessions throughout the stadium. Looking Ahead This Week
Today's match was the first of the Timbers' three-match stretch in a seven-day span. Portland will return to Providence Park for a midweek match against San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday, May 15. Portland will then travel to square off against Minnesota United FC for a Saturday matchup on May 18 at Allianz Field.

POR - Felipe Mora (Jonathan Rodríguez, Dario Zuparic), 15th minute: Standing in Portland's defensive third, Dario Zuparicsent a long ball into the 18-yard box for Jonathan Rodríguez, who controlled it with his chest and set it up for Felipe Mora to finish the play.
SEA - Cristian Roldan (Albert Rusnak) 19th minute: Cristian Roldan dribbled through two Timbers players and fired a right-footed shot from outside the box. The ball took a deflection off Jordan Morris that helped the ball find the back of the next in the lower-left corner of the net.
SEA - Raul Ruidiaz (Obed Vargas) 50th minute: Obed Vargas played a square ball across the top of the box for Raúl Ruidíaz, who curled a first-time shot into the upper-left corner of the goal.

Today's match marked the first meeting this season between Portland and Seattle and the 120th all-time meeting between the two dating back to the NASL era.
In the MLS era, the Timbers hold a winning record of 17-16-9 including playoffs and 14-15-9 in just regular season play.
Before today's result, the Timbers were unbeaten in six straight matches (4-0-2) against the Sounders.
Portland will face Seattle twice more this season, one at home (Aug. 31) and the other at Lumen Field (Oct. 19).
