FIRE HEAD TO THE BIG APPLE, FACE NEW YORK RED BULLS ON SATURDAY

Following last Saturday's 2-1 home victory against Houston, Chicago Fire FC will hit the road this weekend for their lone road match in April. The Fire will head to the Big Apple, where they are set to face the top team in the East, the New York Red Bulls, on Saturday, April 13 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.

Since 1998, the Fire have notched an all-time record of 31-21-15 against New York, with Saturday marking the 68th regular season contest between two of Major League Soccer's most historic clubs.

The last time these two sides met, the Fire went to Red Bull Arena and produced a 1-0 clean sheet road victory on Sept. 20, 2023. Greek forward Georgios Koutsias scored the game-winner in that match for the Fire, heading home a well-placed free kick from midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri as Chicago recorded its 14th road victory against the Red Bulls.

Kickoff for Saturday's match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and will also be transmitted locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

150 - With his start in Saturday's match against Houston, midfielder Chris Mueller made his 150th MLS appearance. The Schaumburg, Ill., native made his fourth appearance for the Fire this season, and his first start since returning from injury. Mueller made his 38th appearance in a Fire uniform since joining the team in 2022 and logged 70 minutes of action in the victory.

3 - Midfielder Brian Gutiérrez recorded his third goal of the 2024 regular season with his game-winning tally against Houston. With his third of the campaign, Gutiérrez notched a career-high for goals in a single season. Additionally, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder now leads the Club in goals scored this season after tallying his second career game-winner.

8 - The last time these two teams met, goalkeeper Chris Brady recorded his career-high eighth shutout of the 2023 regular season. At the time, the Homegrown goalkeeper tied current goalkeeping coach Zach Thornton (1998, 2003) and Matt Lampson (2017) for the sixth-most clean sheets in a single season in Club history.

3 - Heading into Saturday's match against the Red Bulls, Chicago finds themselves in the upper echelons of the League offensively. With midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri scoring from the penalty spot, the Fire are second in the league in PK goals with three this season. Only the Seattle Sounders have more than the Fire in 2024 (four). Additionally, with 11 goals scored in seven games, Chicago Fire FC is T-5 in the League in goals.

HARDWARE FOR THE CHICAGO FIRE ACADEMY

Chicago Fire Academy had a successful weekend of results. With the U-15 and U-17 Academy participating in the Generation adidas Cup and the U-13 Academy playing in the Mina Cup, the Club's youth talent was on display.

The U-13 Academy picked up second place in the Mina Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following a penalty shootout loss to Newcastle United. Despite the loss, the Fire earned numerous individual awards at the tournament, with Graham Dixon (Top Scorer), Alex Bayraktarov (Goalkeeper of the Tournament), and Francisco Diaz (Player of the Tournament) being recognized for their performances.

At the Generation adidas Cup, the U-15 Academy finished the tournament with hardware after defeating Sporting Kansas City to win the Premier Division of the GA Cup. With the victory, the U-15 Academy achieved the Fire's first championship in Generation adidas play since the tournament's inception in 2007.
