Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will travel to face Nashville SC on Saturday, July 17 at Nissan Stadium. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and Latino Mix 93.5 FM.
This past Wednesday night, Chicago (3-7-2, 11 points) came from behind to defeat Orlando City SC 3-1 at Soldier Field. The result marked the Fire's second straight win and third consecutive match without a loss. Three different players scored for Chicago, with defender Boris Sekulić and forwards Robert Berić and Chinonso Offor each finding the back of the net. Chicago has now scored nine goals in its last three games, which ranks as the most in the league during that stretch (June 26-July 7).
Nashville (4-1-7, 19 points) is coming off a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United FC on Thursday night at Nissan Stadium. Jalil Anibaba opened the scoring for Nashville and Hany Mukhtar converted a penalty kick to score his team-leading fourth goal of the season. The second-year club is off to a fast start to 2021, losing just once in their opening 12 matches.
The matchup will be the first time that Chicago and Nashville face off this season and just the second overall meeting between the two sides. The lone encounter between the two teams resulted in a 1-1 draw on Oct. 31, 2020, at Nissan Stadium. Sekulić provided the goal for the Fire with an assist from Homegrown Player Mauricio Pineda.
