Chicago Fire FC to Host Union Omaha in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Soldier Field on Tuesday

CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will begin its quest for a fifth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy when the Club hosts USL League One side Union Omaha on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Soldier Field. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Tickets for Tuesday's third-round U.S. Open Cup match are currently on-sale. Fans can purchase tickets in the Supporters' Section for $15 or in the East 100 level for $25. Season ticket holders can secure tickets through their Ticketmaster account manager and will receive a free ticket with each purchase. The general public can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.

The match will mark the first-ever meeting between the Fire and Union Omaha, with the League One club beginning play in 2019. The Fire have won four U.S. Open Cup trophies in Club history, winning the 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006 editions of the tournament. Chicago's four titles are tied with Seattle Sounders FC and Sporting KC for the most championships won by an MLS team, and the second-most in the history of the tournament.

Following the midweek tournament match, Chicago (2-1-4, 10 points) will play its first away match against a Western Conference opponent in 2022 when the team travels to face Minnesota United FC (3-2-2, 11 points) at Allianz Field on Saturday, April 23. Beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT, the match will be nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.

It will be the fifth all-time encounter between the two opponents, and the first since November 4, 2020, when the teams tied 2-2 at Allianz Field. Chicago is coming off its league-leading fifth shutout of the season, holding the LA Galaxy attack at bay in a 0-0 tie on Saturday night in front of a season-high crowd of 30,282 at Soldier Field.

Minnesota is coming off a 3-1 win against the Colorado Rapids at Allianz Field on Saturday night, receiving goals from Bakaye Dibassy, Robin Lod and Abu Danladi. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Minnesota, and the first time the Loons scored multiple goals this season.

Summer at Soldier Field: The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol and Soccer United Marketing - along with its local partners - announced earlier this week that Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago, and Atlanta will host the 2022 MexTour with four marquee matches over four months on the road to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this November. Mexico returns to Chicago to face Ecuador on June 5, 2022. The game will mark the 100th match of the MexTour, which held its first match in 2003. The historic Soldier Field served as host venue for the 1994 FIFA World Cup and several Concacaf Gold Cup finals.
