Chicago Fire FC II News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC II (6-7-6-1) saw their undefeated streak come to an end in a 3-2 loss on the road against Orlando City B (10-7-2-1) at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. Midfielders Billy Hency and Luka Prpa each recorded a goal for Chicago.
Orlando forward Jack Lynn scored two of his own to give the home side the advantage over the Fire. The result would lift Orlando to third place in the Eastern Conference, and with the loss, Chicago now sits in ninth place with 25 points.
On what was a humid evening in Kissimmee, the match saw Orlando City B take an early advantage against the Fire in the 10th minute of play, when a long cross from Jorge Almaguer was headed into the back of the net by Lynn inside of Chicago's box. Despite conceding in the opening minutes, the Fire stormed back with a tally of their own. Fire Homegrown Sergio Oregel Jr. played a through ball to midfielder Charlie Ostrem, who's perfectly timed run led to a pass inside the box to Billy Hency. Hency would bury the equalizer for his fourth goal of the season to even the score in the 35th minute.
Coming out of the half, Chicago would come back ready to attack, wasting no time to find the go-ahead goal. A counterattack following an Orlando corner kick was started by goalkeeper Mihajlo Miskovic, who threw the ball into the path of forward Omari Glasgow who was ready to break in on Orlando's defense. Glasgow's run towards the box attracted the defense as he sent a low driven pass into the path of Luka Prpa, who was waiting at the back post inside of the box to record his second goal of the campaign. After taking an extra touch to draw the defender, he calmly shot into the back of the net to give Chicago the lead in the 50th minute.
Orlando City would equalize 15 minutes later as Juninho's attacking run into the box created space for the Brazilian midfielder to find the back of the net and even the score at two apiece. Shortly after the equalizer, midfielder Moises Tablante placed a low driven cross inside the box that found Lynn, who would bury the goal to record his league-leading 12th goal of the season and give Orlando the victory over the Fire in the 64th minute of play.
Chicago will return home to SeatGeek Stadium to face New England Revolution II on Sunday, July 30. First kick in Bridgeview, Illinois is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CT. The match is free to attend and can be streamed on MLSNEXTPro.com.
