Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC announced today that the Club has acquired 19-year-old winger Ignacio Aliseda via transfer from Superliga Argentina side Defensa y Justicia. Aliseda will be added to the Fire's roster as a Young Designated Player pending a medical and receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa. He is under contract with the Fire through the 2023 season.
"Ignacio is already such an impressive player despite being only 19-years-old," said Chicago Fire FC Head Coach Raphael Wicky. "He is very quick and technically gifted and has a great mentality. We're very excited to add Ignacio to our roster and we expect him to be a key contributor for us moving forward."
Aliseda began his professional career with Defensa y Justicia in 2018 and has spent the past two seasons with the club, making 38 appearances across all competitions. In 2018, at just 18-years-old, Aliseda made 19 appearances in his first professional season, helping Defensa y Justicia finish in second place in the Superliga Argentina. Additionally, he made three appearances during the CONMEBOL Sudamericana in 2018.
In his second season with the club, Aliseda made 18 appearances during the first half of the 2019-20 campaign, including appearances in the Copa Argentina, Copa de la Superliga and Sudamericana. Internationally, Aliseda has earned two caps for the U-23 Argentina National Team. Both appearances occurred during Argentina's championship run in the 2019 Pan American Games.
Aliseda will occupy an international slot on Chicago's 2020 roster.
The Fire will kick off the 2020 MLS season on the road versus reigning MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders FC on March 1 at 2:00 p.m. CT (ESPN). Chicago will officially make its homecoming to Soldier Field on Saturday, March 21 when the team hosts Atlanta United FC in its 2020 home opener at 2:30 p.m. CT (Univision).
Single-match tickets for the Fire's 2020 home opener are available now by calling 888-MLS-FIRE or by visiting ChicagoFireFC.com. Additionally, fans can reserve a seat at all 17 Fire home matches for as low as $15 per game with the purchase of a season-long ticket package.
