CHICAGO - The Red Stars earned a point in the season opener, drawing Houston 1-1 in the final seconds of the match. Taylor Comeau earned the equalizing goal in 91st minute of play.

Pressuring high, the Red Stars were able to control most of the possession at the start, testing the Houston backline. But just as quickly, the Dash turned the tables.

Halfway through the first half, Houston found its way into the 18-yard box, creating chaos for the Red Stars. Defender Taylor Comeau made two big plays in the box that kept the game scoreless.

In the 38th minute, Houston would take the lead. Forward Savannah Jordan dribbled into the box, sending the ball skidding across. Sliding to the far post, rookie Kimberly Keever slotted the ball just past Naeher for the 1-0 lead.

Houston led the first half with seven shots to Chicago's one, while Chicago kept the majority of the possession.

Minutes in to the second half, goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher was called upon, making a massive save off a one-on-one situation with Veronica Latsko.

The Red Stars narrowly found a goal as National Team Replacement Erin Yenney made a mark on the game in the final minutes, striking a ball off the crossbar, only to bounce off and be cleared. The ball fell to Danielle Colaprico's feet and from 20-yards out she struck the ball first time that required a save from Jane Campbell.

With Chicago moving to a 3-4-3 formation to attack, the Red Stars were able to push up the field and take control in the 75th minute. However, it would be in stoppage time that Chicago robbed Houston of their first victory of the season.

With seconds remaining, Danielle Colaprico took a corner kick, where Comeau was met with the ball and headed it past the goalkeeper for the equalizer, finishing the match in a 1-1 draw.

The Red Stars will return to Toyota Park on Saturday, March 31, against the Portland Thorns. The match will take place following the MLS-side Chicago Fire and Portland Timbers game, as part of a doubleheader event at Toyota Park. Tickets are available here.
