Chicago Bandits News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have signed former Bandits infielder Andrea Filler to a one-year contract for the 2020 NPF season, team officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Filler signed with the Bandits as a free agent in 2016 after an incredible career with Northwestern University. She concluded her 3-year career in Evanston ranked third in NU history in doubles (40), fourth in slugging (.693) and seventh in both OBP (.433) and RBI (159). Her single season with the Bandits was nothing short of exciting -- she helped Chicago to their fourth Cowles Cup Championship and their second in two years.
"My rookie season as a Bandit was an incredible experience," Filler said. "Thank you to the front office staff and coaches for the opportunity to represent the Bandits again. I'm eager to get back out on the field and play in front of Bandit Nation and the softball community!"
"We're extremely excited to welcome Andrea back to Chicago," Bandits AGM Jourdan Skirha said. "She helped us make incredible memories here and we can't wait to get back to work and create some more."
Filler has been playing with the Italian National Team since 2017. She punched her ticket to the Olympic Games in Tokyo at the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier held in Utrecht, the Netherlands last January.
Filler will join the Bandits when they report to Rosemont to begin preparations for the 2020 NPF season. They are set to open the season on June 10 at home against the California Commotion.
