Chicago Bandits News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with outfielder Janie Reed for the 2020 NPF season, team officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
An alum of the Oregon Softball program, Reed (formerly Takeda) was chosen for the US Women's National Softball Team in 2015. During her time with Team USA, she was a 3-time World Cup Silver Medalist, a 2016 WBSC Women's World Championship Gold Medalist, and a 2017 Pan American World Championship Gold Medalist.
Most recently, Reed was named to Team USA for the Olympic games, which will be held in 2021 in Tokyo, Japan, joining teammates Amanda Chidester and Hannah Flippen.
"Janie brings a lot of talent and skill to this team, and she's been great on both a collegiate level and internationally," Bandits AGM Jourdan Skirha said. "She'll be exciting to watch behind the plate and in the field, and we're excited to see what she brings to Rosemont."
Reed was the first ever in Oregon history to be named a three-time NFCA All-American, earning All-Pac 12 member honors three times as well. Her career as a Duck ended with a slew of records, as she became the 19th player in NCAA history to tally 300+ hits, 200+ runs and 100+ stolen bases. She holds UO career records in all three categories, including doubles.
"I'm extremely grateful for the Chicago Bandits welcoming me into their organization, especially this summer in the midst of a lot of chaos and the Olympics getting postponed," Reed said in a statement. "I've heard nothing but great things about the staff, coaches, and players and I'm excited to get to experience the environment firsthand!"
Reed will join her teammates in Rosemont for their season opener at Parkway Bank Sports Complex against the California Commotion on June 10th. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call 877-722-6348.
