ROSEMONT, Ill. - - The Chicago Bandits have agreed to terms with All-NPF selection and reigning NPF Player of the Year Amanda Chidester on a one-year contract extension for the 2020 NPF season, team officials announced Thursday afternoon.

Chidester rejoins the 2020 Bandits roster after a standout year for the club in 2019. After boasting a .374 batting average, 15 home runs and 35 RBI, she earned the Home Run Champion title, Offensive Player of the Year, and 2019 NPF Player of the Year award. She also finished first in the league in slugging percentage (.814), and second in the league in batting average, a mere .004 under fellow Bandit and 2019 Rookie of the Year, Abbey Cheek.

"We're beyond excited to welcome Amanda back to Rosemont," Bandits AGM Jourdan Skirha said. "She came out of the gates running last season and never looked back, and we can't wait to see that skill and energy in action this summer."

Drafted 11th overall in the 2012 NPF Draft, Chidester has also made waves in international competition. In seven seasons with Team USA, Chidester earned gold medals at the World Cup of Softball in 2012 and 2015, 2013 Mayor's Cup, 2016 WBSC Women's World Championship and the 2017 Pan American Championship.

Most recently, Chidester was named to the Team USA roster for the Olympic games in Tokyo, set to be played in 2021.

"It has been a whirlwind these last couple months but I am so happy I will be back with Bandit Nation this summer!" Chidester said in a statement.

Chidester and the Bandits will return to Rosemont for their season opener on June 10 against NPF newcomers, the California Commotion. Tickets are available online at chicagobandits.com or through our ticket office at 877-722-6348.
