Chicago Bandits News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have agreed to contract terms with catcher Michaela Schlattman for the 2020 NPF season, team officials announced Wednesday afternoon.
"We can't wait to have Michaela here in Rosemont and see her in action for the Bandits," Chicago AGM Jourdan Skirha said. "She's got an excitement and love for the game that will fit in great here."
The Plainfield, Illinois native returns to her roots after a stellar college career at LSU. As the Tigers' starting catcher, Schlattman played in 56 games, collecting 39 hits, 24 runs and 23 RBI during her senior season, helping LSU advance to Super Regionals for the second straight year.
Schlattman transferred to LSU before her junior season following two years as shortstop at Miami Ohio. With the RedHawks, she earned 2017 Third Team NFCA All-Region honors, First Team All-MAC, and was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team after leading Miami to a MAC Tournament title.
"Thank you to the Bandits front office and coaching staff for giving me this opportunity to play the sport I love this summer," Schlattman said in a statement. "I am excited to play, learn, and compete with some of the best in this game. Being from Chicago, the ability to represent the Bandits has always been a dream. Geaux Bandits!"
Off the field, she was a member of the 2019 SEC Community Team and the 2018 SEC First Year Academic Roll. Since graduating in May 2019, Schlattman joined Bandits teammate Gwen Svekis as Graduate Manager for Indiana University.
See Schlattman and the Bandits take the field for the season opener on June 10th against NPF newcomers, the California Commotion. Tickets are available online at chicagobandits.com or through our ticket office at 877-722-6348.
