Chicago Bandits News Release
ELGIN - Chicago Bandits GM Aaron Moore announced the resigning of four fan-favorites to the Bandits roster today.
Bandits' pitcher Kristina Thorson, first baseman Samantha Findlay, catcher Rachel Folden and outfielder Amber Patton have all agreed to contracts for the 2010 season.
"It's great to get a big part of the core of our team back for the 2010 season," said Moore. "These four were huge assets to our 2009 regular season championship and also played a part in our 2008 success, so it will be good to have them on-board as we move forward in 2010."
Thorson pitched her way to a 7-6 record in the circle last season with nine complete games in 78.2 innings of work. Thorson recorded 51 strikeouts in 328 batters faced in 2009.
Findlay led the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) in homeruns last season with 11, while recording a.286 batting average. In 105 at-bats she drove in 27 runs, hit two doubles, drew 18 walks and scored 18 runs. She will be joined this season in the Bandits line-up by 2010 NPF Draftee, her sister, Angela Findlay.
A 2009 rookie and DePaul University product, Patton spent time between Team USA and the Bandits last year, recording a.362 batting average in 105 at-bats with the Bandits. Patton hit eight home runs, two doubles, four RBIs and crossed the plate for 22 runs in 2009.
"We're expecting a full-time commitment from Amber this season," added Moore. "She got a taste of the Team USA events and atmosphere and now she's back. We fully expect her to produce again in 2010 like she did last season and be a key part to our team."
Folden, the NPF's 2008 Rookie of the Year, has agreed to return behind the plate for the Bandits. In 2009, she batted.308 with six home runs, five doubles, 22 RBIs and scored 16 runs.
