Chicago Bandits Re-Sign Emily Crane 2020
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits and Emily Crane have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension for the 2020 NPF Season, team officials announced Wednesday afternoon. Just out of her third season with the Bandits, Crane earned spots in the top-ten league leaders for home runs (6th - 5), on-base percentage (9th - .382), and slugging percentage (5th - .532).
"We can't wait to have Crane back this summer," Bandits Assistant General Manager Jourdan Skirha said. "She's the burst of energy this team always needs and we're excited to get going."
While at University ofMissouri, Crane tied a single season record with 64 runs scored in her senior season and became only the third Tiger in program history to earn First Team All-American honors with a .404 batting average. She was also named to the All-SEC First Team and the SEC All-Defensive team in both her junior and senior seasons in Columbia.
"Returning to Bandit Nation is really emotional for me," Crane said of her return. "In this league, you never know when your last game or even your last season could be. Getting the chance to suit up for another season with the black and orange has been a feeling that's been different than the years past."
This offseason, Crane joined the assistant coaching staff at Maryville University and previously held a volunteer coaching position at her alma mater of Mizzou.
The further away I get from college, the more I fall in love with playing the game. Each year now comes down to how much more my body can take. This year I've wanted to be a Bandit more than ever," Crane said. "I'm looking forward to this summer in Rosemont (my second home) doing what I love, in the program I love, with the people I love.
"Thankful for yet another opportunity to play our sport at the highest level. I'm more ready than ever to bring the hype and booming atmosphere back to Rosemont! Let's do this! Go Bandits!"
