Chicago Bandits News Release
Rosemont, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have re-signed Assistant Coach Amber Flores for the 2020 NPF season, team officials announced Friday afternoon.
"I couldn't be more excited to rejoin the Bandits. This is more than just a team - it's a family," Flores said. "I am looking forward to coaching some of the most skilled softball players in the country, while doing it next to one of the brightest softball minds in Lauren Lappin. Let's go, Bandits!"
Flores contributed to an incredibly successful season in 2019 last summer with the Bandits, helping guide them to two winning streaks of 14-plus games and the title of NPF Regular Season Champions. She and fellow coaches Lappin and Lance McMahon were awarded NPF Coaching Staff of the Year at the 2019 NPF Awards in Rosemont.
"We're excited to have Amber back on the bench this season for the Bandits," Bandits GM Toni Calmeyn said. "She was a crucial part in the success of our ball club last summer and we know that having her back on our award-winning coaching staff is an incredible asset."
Prior to joining the Bandits last summer, Flores served as the head coach for Seminole State College, a junior college in Seminole, Oklahoma where she led the Trojans to a 50-7 record, rounding off the season with a berth to the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship Tournament.
Flores attended University of Oklahoma, where she earned NCAA All-American status three times, and was the first to ever earn two-time Big 12 Player of the Year awards. She set numerous program records for the Sooners, including career walks (163), extra-base hits (99), slugging percentage (.701), and on-base percentage (.524).
