Chevrolet Presents Friday Night Fireworks
March 11, 2008 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa.) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs officially unveiled Friday Night Fireworks presented by Chevrolet, which provide for a post-game fireworks spectacular following each Friday home game at Coca-Cola Park in 2008. The first of the ten displays is set for April 11, which will culminate Opening Day festivities at the team's inaugural contest against the reigning International League Champion Richmond Braves.
"Fireworks are consistently a top promotion for minor league teams throughout the country, so we are pleased that Chevrolet has enabled us to treat the Lehigh Valley to Friday Night Fireworks," said IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes. "Similarly to baseball and fireworks, Chevrolet is deeply embedded into the fabric of American culture - making them the perfect partner for this sponsorship."
According to a study by Plan B. Branding, a group that researches promotion activities in sports, post-game fireworks have provided minor league baseball teams the highest average attendance increase over any other promotion the past two seasons.
Company officials of the IronPigs and Chevrolet also revealed an official logo commemorating the promotion and the relationship.
"We are excited to tap into spirit of the IronPigs' fans and expose them to a full line of Chevrolet vehicles that represent their enthusiasm for sports, active lifestyles and genuine reliability," said, John Konkel Chevrolet's Regional Divisional Marketing Manager in the North East Region.
