(Eastlake, OH)--Aaron Cheesman hit a grand slam homer and lefty Josh Outman struck out seven hitters Sunday as the Lakewood BlueClaws defeated the Captains 11-1 at Classic Park.

One night after being blanked 3-0 by the Captains, the BlueClaws (32-30) pounded out 15 hits against four Captains pitchers.

Cheesman clubbed his grand slam off Captains starter Albert Vargas (4-8) during a five-run third inning. After a lead-off double, Vargas issued a walk, and RBI single and another walk to load the bases. Cheesman then homered to left, his first of the year, to make it 6-0.

Vargas left after three innings in favor of Mark Jecmen, who was activated from the DL on Saturday. Jecmen tossed a perfect fourth, but allowed four runs on five hits in the fifth as the BlueClaws extended the lead to 10-1. Mike Spidale, who had four hits on the day, had a two-run single off Jecmen in the inning.

The Captains (27-36) were held to five hits in the game, and registered just nine hits in the three-game series.

Outman (3-4) worked six innings to pick up his second win this season against the Captains. He allowed only one, unearned run when Marshall Szabo doubled home Andy Lytle in the third.

The Captains lost Lytle and second baseman Matt Fornasiere and Lytle in the seventh when the two collided chasing a pop-up by Cheesman. Fornasiere caught the ball, but both left with what was reported as lacerations and mild concussions.

The homestand will continue on Monday night when the first-place Lexington Legends come to town for a four-game series. Lefty Tom Cowley will start for the Captains at 7:05. It will be "Buck Night" at Classic Park. Fans can enjoy a $1 discount off box seats, as well as $1 hot dogs, $1 10-ounce beers and $1 12-ounce sodas. For tickets, call (440) 954-WINS.
