Checkers to Host 11th Annual Salute to Heroes Game on Sunday

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they will host a charity game between a police/sheriff team and a fire/medic team immediately following their 1 p.m. game against the Rockford IceHogs at Bojangles' Coliseum on Sunday, March 13.

As part of the their 11th annual Salute to Heroes event presented by Harris Teeter, the Checkers will honor public safety workers who serve, have served or have been injured in the line of duty throughout the afternoon, beginning with vehicle displays and pipe and drum performances prior to the Checkers game.

A portion of ticket sales for the Checkers game, which include free admission to the following Heroes game, will benefit the families of injured or fallen public service workers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, Charlotte Fire Department and Medic.
