Mississippi RiverKings News Release

(Southaven, MS) -- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) have announced that RiverKings forward Bobby Chaumont will take part in the 2009 CHL All-Star Game, scheduled for January 14th, 2009 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.

Chaumont is taking the spot on the roster earned by RiverKings' assistant captain Louis Dumont, who is not able to take part in the contest due to a prior family commitment. Dumont was selected for the All-Star Game as a reserve at the end of December.

Chaumont is the RiverKings' goal scoring leader entering this weekend's schedule of games with 19 counters for the season. He is second on the roster in points with 31, two fewer than Dumont's 33.

The Sudbury, Ontario, Canada native also leads the RiverKings in power play goals scored with eight and is tied with Jeff Nelson for the most game-winning tallies on the team at four. Chaumont has one of the five RiverKings' shorthanded goals scored this year; Dumont has the other four.

During this year's campaign, Chaumont has scored two goals in four RiverKings games and has had multiple assists in three others. He has collected three points in two games, both RiverKings' victories.

Bobby's longest point streak of the season lasted six games, from November 15th to November 26th. In the six contests, Chaumont scored seven goals and added three assists.

Prior to coming to the RiverKings, Chaumont played 26 games in the 2007-08 ECHL season with the Dayton Bombers. He went there after a CHL All-Rookie Team season with the Laredo Bucks in 2006-07.

Dumont has paced the Mississippi roster in points and shorthanded goals for much of the season. His four shorthanded tallies have led the CHL in that category for the vast majority of the year.

The veteran forward, who started playing professional hockey in 1994, was named to the CHL All-Star team in his third season in the league.

This year's All-Star Game will use a different format from previous years. In this year's event, the host team, Colorado Eagles, will play the selected CHL All-Star team, consisting of players from each team in the remainder of the league.

The next home game for the Mississippi RiverKings comes up this Friday night, January 9th, beginning at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. For RiverKings' ticket information, call 662-342-1755 today!
