Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League are half way to reaching their goal of a sellout for Friday Night's "Pink in the Rink" game against rival Bossier-Shreveport. If the LEC is sold out Friday night the Bucks will donate $10,000 to WINGS. The team's mascot Bucky, has been on the roof of the LEC since 5pm Wednesday night, and won't come down until the game is sold out. The Bucks staff has opened the box office 24-hours a day selling tickets to the game.

Thursday afternoon Laredo Mayor Raul Salinas stopped by and spent some time on the roof with Bucky. The Mayor issued a challenge to the people of Laredo .

"I challenge everyone in Laredo to come out and support the great cause for Friday's game, and buy your Bucks tickets now", Mayor Salinas said. "We need to sell this game out for WINGS".

Wednesday night Bucky was vistited by Coach Rosco, WINGS, Doctors Hospital , the local Laredo media, and the Webb County Sheriff's Office.

Other members of the community are stopping by to visit Bucky on the roof.

WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing) is a non-profit organization that provides top-quality, comprehensive breast cancer treatment services to uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients. WINGS has served Central and South Texas for over nine years, and now, WINGS Laredo is the newest chapter to bring these life-saving services directly to the women and men of Laredo.

"Everyone's life has been affected in some way by breast cancer", said Ruskowski. "This game is for a great cause, and we know the City of Laredo , and Bucks fans will be behind us all the way to sell this game out".

The Bucks will hold a "pink out" Friday night, as they will wear pink jersey's, and they will ask fans to wear pink to the game to support the cause. Before the game 5,000 pink thunder stix will also be handed out to fans.

The Jersey 's will be auctioned off after the game.

The last time the Bucks held an event like this was March 9, 2007, when the LEC was sold out with 8,002 fans. Thanks to the sell out crowd the Bucks donated $10,000 to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes).

During game one of last season's Southern Conference Semi-Finals the Bucks, along with Laredo Energy and Border Lease offered $5 tickets to benefit South Texas Food Bank, and Sacred Heart Children Home. 7,987 fans packed the LEC, and the Bucks donated $10,000 each to South Texas Food Bank and Sacred Heart Children Home.

"When we have held events like this in the past, the fans and the City have responded tremendously", Ruskowski said. "Let's do it again Laredo ".
