Chattanooga Takes Series Edge with 11-3 Win

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears lost for just the seventh time when scoring three or more runs this season, falling 11-3 to the Chattanooga Lookouts on Saturday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Mobile (22-21) fell behind 3-0 in the first inning, then pulled within a run in the bottom of the first before Chattanooga pulled away in the later innings. Despite Saturday's loss, the BayBears remain just four games back of the Biloxi Shuckers for first place in the Southern League South Division Standings.

The Lookouts scored early in the top of the first inning when Byron Buxton and Jorge Polanco both walked then scored on a RBI single from Travis Harrison and a two-run double from Adam Brett Walker.

Sean Jamieson led off the bottom of the first inning for Mobile with a walk, then scored on a RBI double from Alex Glenn. Brandon Drury would drive in Glenn with a RBI ground out to pull Mobile back with in one as Chattanooga led 3-2 at the end of the first inning.

In the fifth frame, the Lookouts tacked on four more runs to front stretch their lead to 7-2, scoring three runs in the first three at bats when Buxton and Polanco singled then Miguel Sano drove in both runners with a two-run triple and Sano was awarded home after an high throw to third left the field of play.

RHP Braden Shipley (2-3) suffered the loss. Shipley allowed seven runs, six of them earned on eight hits, walking three and striking out three in 4.2 innings on the mound.

The win was awarded to RHP Jose Berrios (5-2). The righty limited Mobile to just two earned runs on six hits, walking one and striking out four in six full innings on the mound.

Mobile and Chattanooga continue their series on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 PM. The two teams conclude the five game series on Monday with first pitch set for 4:05 PM.
