
Chase Johnson Named California League Pitcher of the Week

SAN JOSE, CA- San Jose Giants right-handed pitcher Chase Johnson has been named California League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on July 12. In Johnson's start against the Modesto Nuts on Saturday, he allowed one hit, a leadoff single in the first inning, over seven shutout frames. The right-hander also struck out eight and walked two during his performance to pick-up his team-leading fifth win of the season as the Giants beat the Nuts 2-0 at John Thurman Field.
Johnson is the second San Jose Giant to receive Pitcher of the Week honors in 2015, as Martin Agosta received the honor in June. A third round selection by the San Francisco Giants in the 2013 draft, Johnson ranks fifth in the California League with a 3.01 ERA and has allowed only three home runs in 80 2/3 innings,
The San Jose Giants will return home for a seven game homestand Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.
