Charlotte Native Kyle Shelton Joins Knights

Infielder Kyle Shelton has been transferred to the Charlotte Knights roster. Shelton, 24, is native of Charlotte and is a 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where he starred for the Tar Heels for four seasons. He played at the high school level for South Mecklenburg High School where he earned All-State honors.

Shelton is currently in his third professional season and this is his first season at the Triple-A level. He began 2010 with Advanced Class A Winston-Salem Dash where he hit .270 (47-174) with five doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI in 51 games. Shelton played five different positions for the Dash including first base, second base, third base, left field and right field. He has yet to play in a game for the Knights.

The Knights return home this Saturday, July 31st when they begin an eight game home stand starting with four games against the Rochester Red Wings.
