Charlotte Independence News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Independence announced today the addition of Will Vint to the club's growing midfield arsenal. Vint joins the Jacks after three seasons in USL Championship. He grew up playing for a series of top-level youth clubs including English Premier League Side, Manchester United.
"We are excited to bring another young, very technical player into our team in Will Vint," explained Charlotte Independence Head Coach, Mike Jeffries. "Will's ability to find and make the right pass from midfield is excellent; he will aid us greatly in playing from the back. Equally importantly, Will's work rate and engine will prove valuable in recovering the ball defensively."
Vint, born in Arizona, moved to Colorado Springs when he was young and grew up playing youth soccer for Pride Soccer and Real Colorado. In 2020, the Colorado Rapids announced they had signed Vint to a Homegrown Player Contract after acquiring his hometown rights from Atlanta United's Academy. He was later loaned to USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
"I'm excited to play in Charlotte this year with a great group of guys," stated Vint. "We've been working hard through preseason and look forward to showing what we can do on the field this season."
Before returning home to Colorado, Vint made 16 appearances and scored one goal for Atlanta United 2 during the 2019 USL Championship season. He joined Atlanta United's Academy in August 2018 after returning home from a year overseas with English Premier League side, Manchester United. Between 2017-2018, Vint played over 3,200 minutes in 56 matches for United's U15, U16 and U17 sides. In December 2017, he was awarded a scholarship to stay with the club for his U17 and U18 seasons.
The Charlotte Independence kickoff their 2022 season on Friday, April 8 at 7:00 PM (ET). The Jacks will host Central Valley Fuego FC at American Legion Memorial Stadium. To view the full schedule and purchase your tickets, please visit charlotteindependence.com/uslleagueoneschedule.
