Charlotte Independence News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Independence today released details for the club's upcoming Latin Heritage Night presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC). Plans include a pre-game festival, Latin themed, limited-edition scarves and live entertainment preceding the team's USL League One match vs. North Carolina FC. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 24 at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
"We are fortunate to have such great partners like Blue Cross NC and Camino who have worked hand in hand with us to make this a great event in celebration of Charlotte's Latin community," explained Tim Schuldt, Charlotte Independence President and COO. "We invite all fans, friends and families to join us in September for this special occasion as we recognize the contributions and influence of Latin Americans on the history, culture, and achievements of the Charlotte community and beyond."
Camino Fiesta y Fútbol is the name of the pregame festival being organized by club partner Camino. The event, located in the club's parking lot, will feature a variety of cultural entertainment including mechanical bulls, bounce houses, professional wrestlers, zumba, beer, bands, and more. Camino Fiesta y Fútbol is free for all fans and is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
"We are honored to work with and be Charlotte Independence's official philanthropic partner," stated Rusty Price, CEO & Founder of Camino. "Camino Fiesta y Fútbol is the perfect event because it combines two things important to the Latino Community, family & fútbol. We invite families of all cultural backgrounds to come and celebrate Latin Heritage with us on this fun-filled night."
The Charlotte Independence have also designed a one-of-a-kind Latin Heritage Night scarf. It features Latin American flags, several of which represent the countries of the Charlotte Independence players. The words "Los Independence" are printed on the other side to celebrate the Independence's Latin fans and the unity of cultures throughout the club and the Queen City.
"Blue Cross NC proudly celebrates the contributions the Latin community brings to North Carolina," said Cheryl Parquet, Director of Community Engagement and Marketing Activation at Blue Cross NC. "With partners like the Charlotte Independence, we look forward to recognizing the communities and cultures that make up our diverse state year round."
