Charlotte 49ers to Host Two Home Games at BB&T Ballpark in 2017

UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC-- Collegiate baseball will return to Uptown Charlotte in 2017 as the Charlotte 49ers will host two home games at BB&T Ballpark. The 49ers -- the first collegiate baseball team to take the field in BB&T Ballpark history -- will host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Tuesday, March 21st and the N.C. State Wolfpack on Tuesday, March 28th. Gates for both games at BB&T Ballpark will open at 6:00 p.m. and first pitch of each game is on tap for a new start time of 7:05 p.m.

"We're very pleased to continue the tradition of hosting the 49ers at BB&T Ballpark," stated Charlotte Knights Chief Operating Officer, Dan Rajkowski. "Collegiate baseball has become a staple at BB&T Ballpark and Coach Hibbs, along with the entire 49ers staff and players, are great partners of ours. We look forward to welcoming them to the ballpark for a third consecutive year in 2017."

On March 31st, 2015 in front of 8,147 fans, the 49ers faced the Wolfpack in the first-ever collegiate baseball game in BB&T Ballpark history. One year later, BB&T Ballpark welcomed the 49ers for three games, including matchups against N.C. State University, Winthrop University, and the University of Georgia. Over the course of the four-game stretch (2015-16), a total of 22,725 baseball fans have watched 49ers baseball at BB&T Ballpark.

"Thanks to Dan (Rajkowski) and Rob (Egan) for providing us this tremendous opportunity," stated 49ers Head Baseball Coach, Loren Hibbs. "The Knights are a first class organization. We are thrilled to partner with them again in 2017 and bring two great games to BB&T."

Tickets for both of these games will go on sale to the general public at 10:00 a.m. at BB&T Ballpark on Saturday, January 28th. Tickets will then go on sale online at CharlotteKnights.com and by phone at 704-274-8282 beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon on January 28th. Field box tickets are just $10 for fans, while students from each university will be offered a discounted field box ticket of just $8 by showing a school ID. Additional collegiate baseball games at BB&T Ballpark in 2017 will be announced at a later date.
