Charlie Hunt Returns to Sharks, Scaccia Activated
April 9, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Wednesday that veteran Jack linebacker Charlie Hunt has returned to the squad, as Hunt has been assigned to the team's roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 31-year-old Hunt (6'4" 225) enters his third season in the Arena Football League. He last saw action in 2012, making 14 starts at Jack during that season. Hunt ranked third on the team with 51 total tackles (37 solo), recorded eight pass breakups, grabbed a pair of interceptions and forced a fumble. As an AFL rookie in 2011, Hunt appeared in 13 games (12 starts), totaling 55.5 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. In a game against the Iowa Barnstormers, Hunt became the first - and to this point, only - Shark defender to record three interceptions in a single game.
Before beginning his AFL career, Hunt played two seasons in the American Indoor Football Association, suiting up for the Utah Saints in 2009 and the Wyoming Cavalry in 2010. A Jacksonville native who attended Episcopal School of Jacksonville, Hunt spent his collegiate career at Florida State University.
The Sharks also announced Wednesday that kicker Fabrizio Scaccia has been activated from inactive reserve.
In other Wednesday transactions, the team announced that defensive back Tracy Belton and quarterback Kyle Rowley have been traded to the Orlando Predators, completing future considerations from the February trade that brought quarterback Aaron Garcia back to Jacksonville.
