CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Charge (1-0) of the NBA G League, opened the season with a thrilling 113-111 OT victory over the Motor City Cruise (0-1) in the NBA G League's first-ever overtime target score ending.
The #1 overall pick in this year's NBA G League Draft, Sam Merrill, came off a screen at the top of the key to nail the game-winning shot as Cleveland was the first to score seven points in the extra frame. Sharife Cooper led all scorers with 28 points, while also dishing out a team-high six assists in 35 minutes of action. Jamorko Pickett added a double-double of 21 points and 12 boards while Two-Way Player Isaiah Mobley notched 19 points and six rebounds in his G League debut. Didi Louzada added 14 points and nine boards in 25 minutes off the bench for the Charge.
Braxton Key paced the Cruise with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Keifer Sykes recorded a double-double of 20 points and 11 assists. Forward Devontae Cacok added 21 points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes.
