New Jersey Jackals News Release
After defeating the Ottawa Champions, 6-4 in extra innings in game one of the series on Friday night, the New Jersey Jackals were shutout in game two, 10-0 on Saturday evening.
In the bottom of the first, short stop Daniel Bick hit a sacrifice fly to score left fielder Coco Johnson to give the Champions the early 1-0.
As it turns out, Ottawa then scored all but one run for the remainder of the game in one inning.
The Champions plated nine runs in the home half of the fourth inning, running away with the contest.
Center fielder Chase Harris and second baseman Kyle Zirbes delivered RBI singles. A two run double by Coco Johnson then upped the lead to 5-0, Ottawa.
Designated hitter Sebastian Boucher hit a two run double, followed by right fielder Steve Brown's RBI double.
First baseman Vincent Guglietti then hit an RBI single to plate the 10th and final run of the night for the Champions.
Jackals starting pitcher Alberto Rodriguez finished with a line of three and a third innings pitched, 10 runs, only three earned while striking out two and walking run.
However, Champions hurler Jordan Kurokawa was magnificent, allowing only four hits in a complete game shut-out performance.
It was the fourth time this season the Jackals were blanked on offense.
New Jersey looks to rebound tomorrow afternoon at RCGT Park in the third and final game of the set.
