LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. - CONCACAF today released the match dates for the quarterfinals of the 2012/13 CONCACAF Champions League, which will be played in early March. The LA Galaxy, who qualified as the No. 4 seed, will travel to Costa Rica to face C.S. Herediano on Thursday, March 8 at 5 p.m. (PT) in the first leg of their quarterfinal series. The Galaxy will host the second leg of that series at The Home Depot Center on Wednesday, March 14 with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. (PT). The winner of that aggregate goal series will advance to the Champions League Semifinals, where they will face the winner of the series between Mexican side Monterrey, the two-time defending Champions League winners, and Xelajú of Guatemala.
During the Group Stage of the Champions League, the Galaxy compiled a 3-0-1 record for 10 points, lifting them past Isidro Metapan of El Salvador and the Puerto Rico Islanders in order to reach the quarterfinals for the second straight year.
The 2012/13 CONCACAF Champions League Semifinals will be played between April 2-4 and April 9-11, with the Galaxy hosting the first leg if they are to advance. The Finals will be played over two legs, with the first being played on April 24 and the return leg, which LA would host if they reach the Finals, taking place on May 1.
