
Chabot & Joseph Named to Canada's National Junior Team

SAINT JOHN - Defenceman Thomas Chabot and forward Mathieu Joseph have been named to Canada's National Junior Team for the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Hockey Canada unveiled its 22-player final roster d-juniors] late last night. Chabot and Joseph are among seven players from the QMJHL to make the team.
Chabot, 19, is playing for Team Canada for a second straight world junior tournament. The 2015 first-round pick (18th overall) of the Ottawa Senators had three assists in five games for Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Finland.
The native of Ste-Marie-de-Beauce, Quebec, posted one goal and a +3 rating in two games for Team QMJHL at the CIBC Canada/Russia Series in November.
Joseph, 19, is representing Canada for the first time at any level of hockey.
A 2015 fourth-round (120th overall) selection of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Joseph leads the QMJHL with 25 goals. The Chambly, Quebec, product also played two games for Team QMJHL at the CIBC Canada/Russia Series.
The 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship begins with four games on Monday, December 26th, in Montreal and Toronto. Canada taking on Russia in Montreal.
Canada also plays three pre-tournament games, beginning Monday, December 19th, in Montreal against Finland.
