Cedar Rapids Kernels and BUSH's Beans Teaming Up Against Hunger

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and BUSH'S® Beans are working with HACAP to "Team Up Against Hunger." In its second year, this program encourages fans to bring non-perishable food donations to Veteran's Memorial Stadium from July 25th to July 29th to help feed the local community through HACAP.

Ninety Minor League Baseball™(MiLB) clubs across the country will "Team Up Against Hunger" throughout the month of July. The month is significant as it marks the middle of summer break and a crucial time when millions of children are not receiving free or reduced-price meals at their schools as they do when school is in session.

"We are honored to partner with BUSH'S Beans and HACAP to bring the issue of hunger to light using our MiLB platform," said Ryne George, Director of Community Relations for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. "This is one great way to bring the community together to show that we are united in the fight against hunger in our hometown."

"As a family-owned food company, it is important to everyone at BUSH'S to help hungry families," said Mike Morris, consumer experience manager at Bush Brothers & Co. "Working with Minor League Baseball and communities nationwide helps bring attention and action to a very important topic - beating hunger."

"Beating hunger in our community is a mission we work toward every day," said Linda Gorkow, HACAP Food Reservoir Director. "We are grateful to the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Minor League Baseball and BUSH'S Beans for joining us in a cause that is so near to our hearts and the hearts of this community."

The Kernels begin a five-game home stand on Wednesday, July 25th, hosting the Clinton LumberKings at 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM. The upcoming home stand continues through Sunday, July 29th.

Chris Kleinhans-Schulz and Morgan Hawk bring you all of the play-by-play on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM and 93.1 KMRY FM. Fans may listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com. Fans may also stream all 70 Kernels home game and selected road games via a MiLB.TV subscription. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com, or by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560. Ticket office hours are 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
