Ceccarelli Named Player of the Month

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The Kansas City Comets started off the New Year in grand fashion, as the MISL announced that goalkeeper Paolo Ceccarelli was named Defensive Player of the Month, for his play during the month of December.
In five games in goal, Ceccarelli collected a 3-2 record, stopping 73 of 95 shots faced. In addition, he compiled a tiny 9.04 Points Against Average, aided by road games on Dec. 26 and 28, when he held opponents to just six points per game.
This is Ceccarelli's first monthly award of the season. He has twice won the Defensive Player of the Week award this year, including this past week.
Ceccarelli's wins in goal for December all came within the last week of the year. He defeated the San Diego Sockers in San Diego on Dec. 26, stopping 27 of 30 shots faced. On Dec. 28, he was again victorious, this time in Cleveland, where he stopped 18 of 21 shots, and helped hand the Force their first home loss of the season. Then, on Dec. 31, he stifled 13 of 17 shots as the Comets won their first home game of the season, defeating the Harrisburg Heat 19-8.
Kansas City will return to the road this weekend, traveling to Harrisburg for a rematch with the Heat on Saturday night. Game time is 6:35 PM CST, and the match can be heard live on KCKN 1340 AM. The Comets return to Kemper Arena for back-to-back weekends in January, beginning on Friday, January 10, as they host the Milwaukee Wave for Gaming Night. Saturday, January 11 also promises to be full of adventure, as the Comets host Retro Night, including a Reunion Game of former Comets and Attack players at halftime.
