Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI - Angel Macuare and Aaron Brown bookended a blanking Saturday night as the Hooks snapped a four-game skid with a 2-0 triumph over Frisco before 5,213 fans at Whataburger Field.
Macuare faced two over the minimum while breezing three in four innings of work.
Adrian Chaidez, pitching for the first time since June 30, turned in a scoreless fifth by stranding runners and second and third to preserve a 2-0 Hooks edge.
Brown improved to 5-1 in holding the RoughRiders to one hit and one walk while striking out five over the final four frames. Since the beginning of June, the 24-year-old from Nashville is 3-0 with a 1.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a .205 batting average in 12 games (six starts).
Corpus Christi notched its two runs in the second. Chad Stevens sent a 3-2 pitch over the bullpen in left center for his 13th home run of the year, and his fifth blast in the last 21 games.
Colin Barber roped a double into the right-field corner to begin the inning. Barber stole second and later scored on a throwing error.
