CBA announces changes to Xplosion schedule
February 8, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release
PITTSBURGH, February 8, 2007 - The Continental Basketball Association has announced changes to the remainder of its 2006-07 schedule. The changes will result in slight modifications to the Pittsburgh Xplosion's remaining 20-game regular season slate.
The change was necessitated after the CBA announced that the Utah Eagles ceased operations on Thursday, January 25. The CBA schedule will remain intact, with the outstanding games being played by the remaining seven franchises. The Utah franchise will be relocated for the start of the 2007-08 season.
The regular season concludes on Sunday, Mar. 25, and the CBA Playoffs begin on Wednesday, Mar. 28. The three teams with the most quarter points in each conference will advance to the postseason.
Recognized as the world's oldest professional basketball league the CBA moves ahead with the goal of moving into larger media markets in the United States and incorporating international competition as early as next season, the CBA already has firm commitments from expansion franchises in Atlanta, Vancouver, Miami and Southern California for the upcoming season with additional commitments from several overseas clubs pending.
The CBA continues to be regarded among the world's premier developmental leagues and has produced many of basketball's most recognizable names including current NBA head coaches Rick Carlisle, Maurice Cheeks, Phil Jackson, George Karl and Flip Saunders along with notable players such as Mark Blount, Bruce Bowen, Stephen Jackson, Mike James and David Wesley.
The Xplosion return from the CBA All-Star break and take to the floor on Friday, February 9 at 7:05 PM against the American Conference-leading Albany Patroons at the Petersen Events Center. For more information call the Xplosion ticket office at (877) 410-9900 or visit www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
