Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release
LAWTON, OKLA- The Oklahoma Cavs and Big Brothers Big Sisters enjoyed a day at the museum on Saturday.
Ten kids were paired up with Cavs players Judson Stubbs, Greg Plummer, Tony Key, Curtis Haywood, and Shawn Phillips.
Cavs and kids were guided on a tour around the Ft. Sill museum to learn about the Buffalo Soldiers and other historical people and buildings.
"A lot of history was presented to us," said Forward Judson Stubbs. "It was a good learning experience. I learned a lot I didn't know about"
"The kids were pretty cool. They were asking questions and really getting involved. We really had fun. They were like kids of my own for the day," added Stubbs.
Onreka Givens, MCOP Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters, said the kids were excited to be with them. After the players left, the kids kept saying, "I can't believe they were hanging out with us."
The Ok Cavs participate in functions with Big Brothers Big Sisters once or twice a month.
