Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins recorded their first win of the season, beating the St John's Ice Caps 2-1. The P-Bruins came out confident and outshot the Ice Caps 33-21.

Colby Cave got the P-Bruins on the board 2:23 into the game when he deflected Matt Grzelcyk's shot from the blue line. This was Cave's first goal of the season and Grzelcyk's first professional point. Providence held the Ice Caps to just 3 shots on net despite two power play opportunities for St. John's.

Colton Hargrove doubles the lead 6:49 into the second period when his wrister from the left face off dot found the back of the net. Matt Bartkowski and Linus Arnesson were credited with the assists.

St. John's retaliated with a goal of their own, converting on the power play midway through the second period.

Sean Kuraly had a short handed breakaway opportunity in the third period that almost resulted in a 3-1 lead, but Fucale got a pad on it at the last second.

There was still unresolved business after the final whistle, with Justin Hickman dropping the gloves with St. John's McCarron. Both were dealt fighting minors and game misconducts, McCarron was also given a 10 minute major for head-butting.

Zane McIntyre looked strong between the pipes, turning away 20 of 21 shots faced.

The P-Bruins are not back at home until Friday, November 4 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
